The Social Network / You Can't Make 500 Million Friends Without Making a Few Enemies

Hi guys, as you see I am back. Last 2 months I couldn't write any blog because of trying to open a new youtube channel for my blog. But when I tried to do it, many things went wrong such as I didn't like my voice or I could not edit the videos. As a result, I will not open a youtube channel for a while, but I will keep writing blogs. Another reason was that I went to a summer camp in the Czech Republic for two weeks for orienteering. 

So today we are going to look at the movie “The Social Network”. “The Social Network” was released on the 22nd of October 2010 and also on his first weekend it was watched more than the movie “Jobs” (In Turkey). And also in the USA, during the opening weekend, the film debuted at No.1, grossing $22.4 million in 2,771 theaters. The film retained the top spot in its second weekend, dropping only 31.2%, breaking “Inception”’s 32.0% record as the smallest second-weekend drop for any number-one film of 2010. The movie has a strong actor team such as Andrew Garfield who is playing Mark's Friend Eduardo Saverin. Mark Zuckerberg was played by Jesse Eisenberg, who had a new movie which

is “The Humming Bird”. I will also write a blog about it. Sean Parker was played by the famous singer Justin Timberlake, so the actors were one of the reasons for me to watch “The Social Network”. The movie is telling the story of how Mark Zuckerberg made Facebook and how it became a global phenomenon. Also, there is a future scene and in that scene, he is on a case with Eduardo and with the Winklevoss brothers. So when we look at the beginning of the movie, it starts with a break up of Erica Albright with Mark. As a result, Mark wants to get revenge on her, so he hacks the system of Harvard and sends everybody in the school the app Facesmash. After that night he gets a suspension from the school for 2

months. While he was on the suspension, the Winklevoss brothers offer him to do the HarvardConnection which is similar to Facebook. When Mark heard the idea he said okay, but he didn't do any communication with the brothers because he was doing it himself in secret. After two months Eduardo and Mark publish the HarvardConnection as Facebook and then they get a thousand members in a week. After that, the Winklevoss brothers want to open a case that Facebook was stolen by Mark Zuckerberg. But Cameron Winklevoss says that they shouldn't open a case about him because they are respectable Harvard students. As a result, they go to the principal of the school to solve the problem, but when the principal doesn't care they just do nothing for a while. But when Mark starts to expand Facebook to

other schools they decide to open a case. During these events, an investor sees Facebook and wants to have a meeting with Mark. The investor was Sean Parker who made an app to download free music which is Napster. So it is like a company similar to Spotify wants to be an investor to your company. But at the meeting, Sean Parker is late for 25 minutes and Eduardo gets a bit nervous because he had searched for his history and he was anxious about it. When the meeting ends Sean makes the biggest change in the company. He says that "Drop -the-, it will be more clear.". So Mark was so happy to work with Sean. As a result, Mark decides to go to California to work with Sean, but Eduardo does not

because he was having an internship in New York. So Eduardo gave Mark 18.000 dollars to live in California also for the interns that they got. But Eduardo does a big mistake to give the money because it would cost him everything. He gives the money because he thinks they were partners with Mark. Then a few months later Eduardo quits from the internship to go near Mark. But when Eduardo comes, Mark forgets to take him from the airport. Because of Sean sets up a Meeting and Eduardo freezes the bank account. But that moment Mark is in a meeting with Peter Thiel and Peter wants to invest 500.000 dollars. But Mark forgets the childish behavior by Eduardo and he wants him to come to California

to help him. After that, he goes to near Mark and they offer a contract but the contract was an ambush to Eduardo. So he didn't call his lawyers, because he was thinking the offerers are the lawyers of Eduardo. A few months later Mark invites Eduardo to the party and a meeting but when he goes there he learns that he wasn't invited for both of it. He has invited for a new contract that Eduardo's stock decreased to 3 percent which means 24 million dollars. Also that day there were 1 Million members, so at night they were having a party but Mark wasn't at the party. So in that party, Sean was using drugs and he gets arrested with four interns. Mark fires Sean that night, but he still owns 7 percent of the company. So the result of the movie is The Winklevoss brothers receives a settlement of 65 million dollars and

signs a non-disclosure agreement. Eduardo Saverin receives an unknown settlement and his name has been restored to the Facebook masthead as a co-founder and Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in the world. 

So did I like the movie? Yes, it was good and also the actors were the famous ones so it makes the movie better. Also learning about the background of Mark Zuckerberg is a different feeling. My rate to this movie is 8.7 / 10 and the reason that I write about it is you know that nowadays Facebook isn't in a good situation.
